Using silos as a canvas for giant works of public art is an idea that has swept across country Australia.
Since 2016, when Guido van Helten began plying his brush to silos in the western Victorian town of Brim, dozens other communities have followed suit.
Rochester community has pinned its hopes for economic rejuvenation on a silo artwork. Nearby is the dormant Murray Goulburn factory, which closed its doors for the final time in January 2018. The dairy giant's departure from Rochester left a 100 people jobless, was typical of the town's fortunes in recent years as it has also been slammed with major flood events in 2011 and 2022.
Now all 3 silos are painted, so don't forget to take a walk and view all 3, the platypus is around the back and not visible from the main road.
Don't forget to log the Adventure Lab Silo Art Trail #2 while you are here.
