Planting Wildflower Plug Plants at Horsbere Reserve

Parking: There is space for 5-6 cars at the alternative parking coordinates, or you can use the free car park at the given waypoint, from where there is a footbridge leading over to Horsbere.

Where: Meet by the main gate to Horsbere Reserve at 09:30 (alternative parking coordinates). If you are arriving a little later then please check the CITO event listing for updates as to where to find us planting on the Reserve - I'll post an announcement with waypointed coordinates.

What

Join us for a further session of planting out wildflower plug plants in order to boost biodiversity across the Reserve.

During a series of CITOs last summer and autumn we collected wildflower seeds from parts of the Reserve, then we sowed these seeds in pots to grow as plug plants over the winter. Now it is time to plant out the resulting seedlings into the different areas of Horsbere.

So please bring with you any plug plants you have been nurturing at home since our seed planting workshops last autumn - don't worry if some haven't come up as they may well yet germinate in the soil.

We will have plenty of extra plug plants too, so if you weren't able to attend the seed sowing sessions but would like to get planting then please do come along.

How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance. We ask you to bring your own gloves and if you have them tools, so if you have trowel or small spade please do bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have them as the Ranger will have a supply too.

Health and Safety: The session will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.

Please bring along your own refreshments as it can be thirsty work. Homemade cake will be provided at break time!
