O Vovarju se že od nekdaj govori, da je bil to nekoč vulkan in da je mlaka na vrhu »kratersko jezero«.
Vovar je priljubljena rekreacijska točka med domačini. Dviga se nad naselji Brezje nad Kamnikom, Briše in Tučna, na severni strani pa se nahaja naselje Gozd. Dostop na vrh je možen iz več izhodišč, najlažje pa se nanj vzpnemo z Gozda. Njegov vrh je sicer nerazgleden, ponaša pa se s klopmi z mizo, z zvoncem želja, ima pa tudi vpisno knjigo z žigom.
Vovar spada med vrhove Kamniško-Savinjskih Alp, a svojimi 940 metri nadmorske višine spada med nižje tega gorovja. Hrib je gozdnat in prepleten z mnogimi stezicami, ki ne zahtevajo večje kondicijske pripravljenosti in je primeren tudi za družinske pohodne izlete v naravo.
Vovar je odlična destinacija za tiste, ki si želijo sprostitve v naravi, tisti bolj žejni in utrujeni pa bodo na vrhu našli »zeliščno okrepčilo«.
Vsako leto je organiziran nadvse zanimiv dogodek, pohod bosonogih na Vovar. Za najdbo zaklada ste seveda lahko obuti. Priporočamo pohodno obutev, da se boste lažje spopadli z zadnjim delom vzpona.

Vovar has always been rumoured to have been a volcano and the lake at the top is a "crater lake".
Vovar is a popular recreational spot among locals. It rises above the settlements of Brezje nad Kamnik, Briše and Tučna, with the settlement of Gozd on the northern side. The summit can be reached from several starting points, but the easiest way is from Gozd. The summit doesn't offer any vistas, but it has benches with a table, a wishing bell, and a registration book with a stamp.
Vovar is one of the peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, but at 940 metres above sea level it is one of the lower peaks of this mountain range. The hill is wooded and intertwined with many trails that do not require much fitness and is also suitable for family hiking trips into the countryside.
Vovar is a great destination for those who want to relax in nature, while those who are thirsty and tired will find an "herbal refreshment" at the top.
Every year a very interesting event is organised, the barefoot hike to Vovar. Of course, you can wear shoes to find the treasure. Walking shoes are recommended to help you tackle the last part of the climb.
