Geocache Description:
29 April 2023, 11:00 - 12:00
The Februaury Walcott to Billinghay CITO went well, with a gap in the weather ensuring everyone remained dry if a little muddy. Despite a slightly smaller team, we collected 17.5kg of litter, upping our running total to 32.5kg so far.
For March we are heading towards Digby from Walcott, taking in the old Walcott marshlands (before they were drained) from the fen roads.
Geocache Description:
25 March 2023, 10:55 - 12:00
The plan:
10:55 Sign onto the CITO outside the front of the Plough Inn Walcott (parking shown on waypoints).
11:00 Start of the CITO
Walcott to Timberland (Green line)
Head towards Timberland down the B1189 Hight street to the edge of the village. There we can use the wide grass verge to Welbourne house. This gives the option to circle back via a footpath. Alternatively the same footpath can be taken out towardss Timberland for a more pleasant country walk, pick up missing Helixes (check the geocaching map) and branch off to the B1189 at safer points with suggestions dashed onto the map.
Timberland to Walcott
Optionally, those that would rather walk from Timberland can park up outside the old post office (waypoint provided) then head down station road onto the B1189 using the wide verges to stay of fthe road and collect the plentifull litter around here. Alternatively, there are a number of footpaths that lead to other parts of the B1189 to get more litter and spend less time on this busy road.
For those that would prefer to stay in the relative safety of the 30mph zones, cachers are encouraged to clean up around Walcott or Timberland Village.
Those that have a car and would like to CITO and dash, can work around the midpoint such as Hall farm which has a wide if soft verge, taking care not to block the busy road.
12:00 Reconvene at our respective start points. Those that are unable to take rubish home can leave their rubbish in a neat pile at the Plough inn which will be disposed of by myself.
We are then free to refresh at the Plough which will be open for business offering hot and cold drinks. Then onwards to collect some caches to round off our Saturdays!

Here is the area we hope to cover. Note that we don't plan to meet in the middle on this one as the B1189 is far too dangerous to walk (although many do) in its entirity and the footpaths are fairly clean. The main focus is the north of Walcott and Timberland as a whole, especially on the station road cross roads with teh B1189.
You will need:
-
suitable dress for the weather and potentially grubby work.
-
gloves
