The Church of the Holy Cross at Perissa in Santorini is one of the largest churches on the island. It is located on the outskirts of the city, close to the beach, at the foot of the Mesa Vouno hill.
The church was built between 1835 and 1840, in a style typical for Greek religious buildings, especially in Santorini - white walls with blue domes (there are five of them, a main one and four smaller ones at the corners of the building). The building also has a magnificent bell tower. The church was destroyed by an earthquake in 1956, but rebuilt thereafter. There are other attractions and places of interest in the vicinity of the church – including the ruins of the Primitive Christian Basilica of Santa Irene and the Mineral Museum.
Behind the church there is a beautiful beach.
A beach covered in black stones, and the reason for this wonderful color is that it is sand and volcanic stones. This beach stretches for a distance of six kilometers from the coast of Santorini. The beach is surrounded on all sides by flowering date palms, as well as many good seafood restaurants and many wonderful tourist resorts. On the beach there are many vacant rooms and showers. Don't miss it if you are in Santorini.
I recommend the Fratzeskos restaurant, great fish, seafood, very affordable.

A Igreja da Santa Cruz em Perissa em Santorini é uma das maiores igrejas da ilha. Situa-se na periferia da cidade, perto da praia, no sopé da colina Mesa Vouno.
A igreja foi construída entre 1835 e 1840, num estilo típico dos edifícios religiosos gregos, especialmente em Santorini - paredes brancas com cúpulas azuis (são cinco, uma principal e quatro menores nos cantos do edifício). O edifício também possui uma magnífica torre sineira. A igreja foi destruída por um terremoto em 1956, mas reconstruída posteriormente. Há outras atrações e pontos de interesse nas proximidades da igreja – como as ruínas da Primitiva Basílica Cristã de Santa Irene e o Museu do Mineral.
Atrás da igreja há uma bela praia.
Uma praia coberta de pedras pretas, e o motivo dessa cor maravilhosa é que é areia e pedras vulcânicas. Esta praia se estende por uma distância de seis quilômetros da costa de Santorini. A praia é cercada por todos os lados por tamareiras floridas, além de muitos bons restaurantes de frutos do mar e muitos resorts turísticos maravilhosos. Na praia há muitos quartos vagos e chuveiros. Não perca se você estiver em Santorini.
Recomendo o restaurante Fratzeskos, ótimos peixes, frutos do mar, muito em conta.
