The current church is dedicated to st Margaret of Antioch and was dedicated in 1866. It replaces a church which dates back to the 14th or 16th century. Rebuilding took place between 1553 and 1558, this was probably used as a chapel.of ease for coffins and a more sustainable chapel was built in 1673. An unusual feature of this church is the fact that the porch is on the north side in order to suit the fell-side location.
There is also a Sunday school.building a little further down the road which was built in 1887 by public subscription.
