The island of Santorini is one of the most famous Greek islands and annually attracts millions of tourists. It is known as a romantic destination, and many choose this place to get married or spend their honeymoon. On the west side of the island you can see the most beautiful sunsets. In addition to its romantic side, Santorini is also an island of wild natural beauty.
The island was part of a volcano that erupted around 1613 BC and resulted in the destruction of its ancient civilization. Today, what remains from the eruption is the volcanic soil that gives Santorini its unique geological interest. The red beach is in the southeastern part of the island in Akrotiri, about 8 kilometers from Fira. Good for snorkel.
