The Preservers - Red Hawk
Red Hawk is a top predator and is incredibly strong and heroic!
Top predators include snapping turtles, owls, and hawks. They help preserve the food chain.
Top predators control herbivore populations which keep the primary producers, the plants, plentiful.
Without top predators herbivores will overrun the ecosystem, eating all the plants, drinking all the water, and even changing soil bacteria. That is known as a trophic cascade.
Top predators keep the natural order healthy. by preying on the weak, old, young, sick, and vulnerable. They ensure maximum fitness in the prey populations keeping the whole food chain at its healthiest.
Predators are regulators of the food web. Without top predators, mesopredators like coyotes or foxes try to make up for top predators, but can't do the job nearly as well.
TAKE ACTION!
• Do not remove top predators from the ecosystem unnecessarily.
• Never feed wild animals as they may lose their fear of humans.
