This cache is published to coincide with the Cachin' the Bay 2023 Mega Event. We are so glad that you are here!
Welcome to the Valley of Heart's Delight, an encompassing description of Santa Clara county. Geocaching has become one of the popular modern day "crops to be harvested" ... much to our delight.
The title is applicable for the many feathered friends that have thrived in this area before humans moved in. The WET in the GC code is random luck ... but does reflect the many waterways in the area that attract migratory species. The creek that goes thru here was once a significant river that went for miles to the south. That created a perfect habitat for many animals, including the Tule Elk and Pronghorn that are native to this county.

If here on the day of the Mega event you will see the culmination of over a year's planning by fellow geocachers and support personnel. This location is an appropriate representation of modern day usage of acres of historical significance.
This cache is a type called a Reverse WhereIGo. You may begin your RWIG journey from anywhere in the world. The process of play will take you to the final physical cache. The Posted Coordinates are at the Mega event location. The final will be a fairly short walk on the trail. Please stay on the designated trail until you are at the final location.
What you see today will be a great Mega gathering , undoubtedly a busy hive of activity and smiling faces. But consider past history of where these trails and meadows may have been in historical context. In your mind's eye do you have a glimpse of a true farmers' market meet-up, bustling with consumers bartering or purchasing bushels of food items and goods. Or do you hear the drum beat of the Ohlone tribesmen dancing, and smell the smoke fires cooking the feast for the evening gathering?
Imagine as you make your way to the cache that you experience the Reverse Where I Go to literally experience what the site has been a part of. If the land could talk, do you think it ever asked Where is this Going?
- Before you "Reverse" your mental "destination" thru a portal to the past, consider the reason we are here (geocaching) and the reasons for your presence.
