Mussel Rock Music Exchange Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

SoCalAdmin: Looks like this one has been down for quite and while with no end in sight. I'm going to go ahead and temporarily archive this so it doesn't keep showing in people's nearest cache listings. Once the owner is able to check up on the cache and replaces it, just drop me an email via my profile page and I'll be happy to re-instate it.

Thanks,

SoCalAdmin

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

It's not my fault that the horst is wet.

A horst is a raised rock between two faults. Supposedly Mussel Rock is a horst, and if you look on the cliff face you can see the cracks or faults that used to contain the Mussel Rock. After eons of movement along the San Andreas fault, Mussel Rock was set free in the Pacific.

It would be best to visit the area at low tide to be able to explore the most impressive fault, and the tunnel. Please wear sturdy shoes, and be prepared to scramble over the rip-rap. This area is also dog and bike friendly.

The original contents of the cache were several CD's of various genre, a shell lei, Mardi Gras beads, a key chain, and a cake of surf board wax. So that this cache remains true to its name, please only take music if you intend on leaving music. The cache container is an ammo can.

Have fun, be careful, and enjoy the geology.
