Gila Bend History and Archeology Virtual Cache

This cache has been archived.

Highpointer: It appears that this virtual cache has run its course and it is obsolete. There are other caches to find in Gila Bend and the surrounding area. I encourage someone to place a new geocache on the grounds of this museum, or use the site of this museum as the initial coordinates for a multi or puzzle cache.

This is the first cache in Gila Bend. In order to successfully claim this cache, go to the sign at the above coordinates, then go into the building that the sign points to and find the answers to the following questions. Send all answers to me, Ken@Highpointer.com (no internet "finds"):

1) What are the names of the three children among the seven in the Oatman family who survived the Oatman Tragedy of 1851?

2) On the Jesse James "Wanted" poster, what is the reward offered by the Governor of Missouri for the capture of Jesse James, "Dead or Alive"?

3) In the "Papago Baskets" display, one item is a figure representing a common farm animal. What type of animal is this?

4) How many acres are in the Gatlin archeological site, and during what years was it first excavated?

5) What are the four digits on the rusty 1929 Arizona license plate in the square central display, leaning on the ironwood branch? Note: If you can't find this license plate, answer this question: What are the five digits on the 1926 license plate, found by cocohwy? or What are the characters on a yellow 1944 Arizona license plate?

6) Who was the the Justice of the Peace candidate who campaigned with the slogan "Equal Justice for the 90's" emblazoned on a pink T-shirt?

The building is open most days from 8 am to 4 pm. The telephone number is 928-683-2002.
