A historic date in the British history books; the coronation of King Charles lll. 🤴🏼 The whole weekend is packed with celebrations, religious ceremonies and even a cheeky bank holiday Monday. What's not published in the official Royal Scheduele, however, is a celebratory Geocaching event!
Nevertheless, let's schedule our own event and have some geo-fun. I may even fashion a makeshift crown and we can crown a caching King and/or Queen of our own! 👑 I've tried looking at many sites with coronation schedules (including the official one!) to get more information on road closures, pedestrian access, number of people expected, etc., but irritatingly they are all vague at the moment. Consequenlty, I don't want to chance getting too close to the Palce, even in the evening.

TfL states that all of its underground and rail network is planned to run as normal, but you should expect busier than normal journeys. As such, plan your route and schedule ahead of time. The closest underground stations are Green Park and Piccadilly Circus, but there are other stations not much further away, if you're able to walk. Check TfL for road closures and bus timetable changes, of which there are some!

I'm very aware that the subject of the monarchy is becoming one of growing controversy. This event is not a propanada mission for either side of said debate! As is always the case, everyone is welcome at this event, regardless of your opinion on the monarchy topic! 🙌🏼 The sole purpose of this event is to provide a chance to meet and greet local/travelling geocachers for some fun geo-chat and on a significant British date, when perhaps more people are in/around the capital. 😁
