When: Tuesday, May 2, 2023
Where: Whispering Pines Park, Inverness, FL
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon)
What: A simple Meet N Greet
Why: To celebrate this special date back in 2000 when GPS became a reality
We will meet at the posted coordinates from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon). We will gather, socialize, discover and retrieve trackables, and tell the stories (and lies) of our varied geocaching adventures... This is a birthday party of sorts for the GPS satellites being available to the general public. The first geocache was hidden the very next day, May 3, 2000.
Cachers finding a geocache, an adventure lab, or attending an event between May 1st & May 3rd will earn a Big Blue Switch Day souvenir.
This event is located in Whispering Pines Park in Inverness, FL. This park has a lot to offer with trails for hiking and biking, sports fields and courts, and picnic facilities. Scattered around the park, geocachers will find a number of geocaches - traditional, multi, mystery, and challenge caches, this event cache, and hopefully a new cache or two (if we can find time and room).
