Geocache Description:

3rd in the Peppermint Town Series

It's a Bi-Centennial Birthday, 200 Years old, for Wayne County, NY.

It's extra special for lyons, NY, because we are the county seat!  I'm especially proud considering, I'm Lyons Town Historian.

This cache' was placed in a very easy spot for the Bi-Centennial Geocache Celebration, in attempt to encourage NEW cachers.

To Larry Ann & Peter, we'll always keep the light on for you!

The Wayne County Museum is housed in the former Wayne County Jail and Sheriff's residence.  Built in 1856.  It was the location of the first and last hanginging on March 23, 1863, when William Fee was hung for murder.  However, stop in the museum, visit Linda S. and ask about Mr. Fee, Sheriff Collins, and the two story carriage house.  It's your opportunity to visit the cellblocks, learn about the Lyons Pottery, and the Indian war.  Guided tours are available for larger groups.  To learn more about the museum and Lyons, check out the attached links.

In loving memory of:

Peter J. Evans - August 7, 1942 - March 11, 2023 *** Wayne County Historian 2004-2023

Larry Ann Evans - October 13, 1960 - December 18, 2020 *** Wayne County Museum Executive Director
