Official Maker Magic Workshop - Hiding an Earthcache (EC)
A well-designed physical cache container does make us smile, but so does a well-designed EC. You may have been thinking about placing an EC but are daunted by the guidelines and their reputation for being hard to get published. Come along to learn about the guidelines and submission process from experienced EC hiders.
Earthcaches Guidelines
Earthcaches must provide an earth science lesson through a visit to a unique geological feature. Submitted EC are processed by one of the EC reviewers (geoaware) to ensure it meets the strict submission guidelines. The review and submission process can be lengthy and it can be helpful to reach out to other cachers that have published ECs for assistance. One guideline to particularly pay attention to is to ensure the EC waypoints use approriate pathways and established trails and finders do not do any damage to the site. At this event, attendees will be able to reach out to current EC COs to ask questions about the guidelines and seek advice regarding future EC hides and locations. If you have any EC plans or drafts, bring them along to ask questions.
