Geocache Description:

To solve this multi you will need to visit three locations near the Whakapapa Visitor Centre.

At the published co-ordinates (PC) is a concrete structure with a metal top. Look for "Auckland" printed underneath is another location, take note of this locations name.

Plaque A
Celebrates Tongariro National Park’s UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) dual world heritage site status (Cultural and Natural). The Plaque is attached to a large hollowed-out stone from Tongariro. It is roadside, outside the Visitor Centre.

Within this stone are other stones which where gifted from the different Tribes of various Maunga/Mountains, and sealed under the plaque.

These stones are from:
- Tongariro
- Taranaki
- Pūtauaki
- Taupiri
- Motatau
- Maungapōhatu
- Aoraki/Mt Cook.

Plaque B
Records the 'gift' to the nation by Horonuku Te Heuheu in 1887 of land that formed part of the Tongariro National Park. It is attached to a rock that is on your left as you enter the Visitor Centre

To find the cache, collect the information required, and with a little math calculate the new co-ordinates:

SOUTH = 488.875 x first letter of location (converted to a number) found at (PC) = (SOUTH)

EAST = 2191.50 x first letter of location (converted to a number) found at (PC) = (EAST)

Plaque A = The "year" bottom right corner = A - 1158 = (UNESCO)

Plaque B = The "year" bottom right corner = B - 1771 = (GIFT)
