The Ponil Stash is a tribute/celebration of the high adventure caches placed by the CO known as PONIL. ( Ponil is named after a scouting area in Philmont New Mexico) If you've done one of the many caches placed by Ponil, you already have an idea of what this cache brings. If not you might want to stick to the many park and grabs, 2D/2T caches. This is not an up and down, 2 plus mile hike over rough terrain. No glacial erratic to scale. If you make it a bush whack then there’s a bushwhack. It's a cache that you can park your mode of transportation. Look through some binoculars and see the cache. It's not hidden, It's in plain sight. It's only 600 to 700 feet away. You just need to get to it.

Not all caches are for everyone
The adventure is simple, get to the cache. Sign the log, take a picture of the cache, the highway or the log. There are several ways you can get to the cache. This isn't a cache you just head out for. You should plan. Take someone with you.
1. Swim. - This will only work if the water in the swamp is high enough.
2. Wade - That would be interesting.
3. Kayak/Canoe - This might work during the rainy season.
4. Water walk - Yes this will work during a deep freeze. (remember swamps freeze different than lakes and ponds)
5. inner tube/float - that would work. Might take some time
If you decide to wade or swim please give this CO, 24 hour notice so I may get a beverage and lawn chair. 2 weeks’ notice I will hold an event. Given the placement, I don't see this cache being logged the first day, or even the first week. maybe the first month. I envision the honoree pulling up, tossing the GPS to his trusty canines Fitz and Livy. They will be off to log the cache, as Ponil will be heard saying "remember the picture". I'll look for more meaningful/challenging caches. Within 5 minutes they'll be off to their next adventure.
How deep can it be? Well about 100 feet east of the cache it is waste deep for a person 5'11". How do I know this, you ask? Well I'm 5'11"
If you stop on RT 101 at N 43° 02.481 W 071° 17.108 you can see the container with binoculars

Wildlife in the swamp
Snakes, I think so, Frogs and Tad poles, seems like a good place to find some.. Bullhead, Hornpout and Cat Fish. might be some, Lizards/Salamanders different kinds I'm sure. Snapping Turtles, they do live in swamps.. Beaver yes, You can see several beaver dams on the swamp.
