Geocache Description:

It all begins, or ends, here. Nearly 1,200 miles of river valleys, rolling hills, and ridges create the Ice Age National Senic Trail.

The Trail was designated a National Scenic Trail by Congress in 1980 and Wisconsin's first State Scenic Trail in 1987. There is an official marker located nearby. see the waypoints for directions to it.

Interesting facts:

  • Approximately 60% of Wisconsin residents live within 20 miles of the Ice Age Trail.
  • The Trail is not yet complete. More than 600 miles are yellow-blazed Ice Age Trail segments, and more than 500 miles of unmarked connecting routes link the blazed segments.
  • The Trail travels through 30 counties.
  • The trail is administered by the National Park Service, and is constructed and maintained by private and public agencies
  • The trail received an estimated annual usage of 2.3 million people from a 2019 survey.
