Lighthouse Cemetery: For many years in the early 1900’s, rabbits caused the degradation of this area by removing plants which subsequently allowed sand to drift over the gravesites. The local council tried to control this process but eventually it was decided to abandon the area. Over the years the sand drifted over the site until the area became overgrown. In 1993 the Port MacDonnell and district Heritage advisory committee began work to uncover the sites; a project estimated to take many years. It is believed graves date from 1852 to 1907. There is estimated to be about 50 grave sites within this section, with only 6 still being visible.
At this site is the reconstructed walls of the Grave Diggers shed. They have been built using the original stone.
