Geocache Description:

EWEN BRIDGE

The Ewen Bridge is a 170 metre long four lane road bridge across the Hutt River. Originally known as Hutt Bridge, the current bridge is the 7th in its location, however only the 6th and 7th bridges have been known as "Ewen Bridge":

First bridge: 1844-1847 (destroyed in earthquake)

Second bridge: 1847-1855 (destroyed in earthquake)

Third bridge: 1855-1868 (destroyed by flood)

Fourth bridge: 1872-1904

Fifth bridge: 1904-1929

Sixth bridge: 1929-1996

Seventh bridge: 1996-present

Please replace as found and use stealth as this is a busy area, and people could arrive from any direction.
