Ses quatre extrémités sont flanquées de monumentaux pylônes de 17 mètres de haut, ornementés à leur sommet de pégases de bronze doré. Ils représentent la Renommée des Arts, des Sciences, du Commerce et de l’Industrie. La riche décoration en fonte de style Louis XIV, les 32 candélabres en bronze qui l’illuminent, la vue panoramique sur la tour Eiffel et sur les berges de la Seine en font un lieu de promenade très prisé, pour les Parisiens et les nombreux touristes qui viennent s’y prendre en photo.

La première pierre fut posée par le tsar Nicolas II de Russie, l'impératrice Alexandra Fedorovna et le président Félix Faure le 7 octobre 1896.
Inaugurated on the occasion of the 1900 Universal Exhibition and classified as a historical monument, the Alexandre III Bridge is one of the most emblematic bridges in Paris, due to its architecture and its geographical location. Its four ends are flanked by monumental 17-metre high pylons, decorated at the top with golden bronze pegasus. They represent the fame of the Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Industry. The rich cast iron decoration in the Louis XIV style, the 32 bronze candelabras that illuminate it, the panoramic view of the Eiffel Tower and the riverbanks of the Seine make it a very popular place to walk, for Parisians and the many tourists who come to take pictures.
The bridge was intended to symbolise the Franco-Russian friendship established by the signing of the 1891 alliance between Emperor Alexander III (1845-1894) and French President Sadi Carnot. The first stone was laid by Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, Empress Alexandra Fedorovna and President Felix Faure on 7 October 1896.
