Una bella vista del fiume Isonzo e della cittadina di Sagrado.

Questo manufatto è costituito da uno sbarramento disposto trasversalmente rispetto l’alveo del fiume e da una monumentale presa d’acqua con lo scopo di convogliare parte delle acque del fiume Isonzo per distribuirle alla campagna monfalconese. L’opera venne costruita nel 1905. Il canale è lungo cira 12 km ed è caratterizzato da un dislivello da monte a valle di 20 metri, salto di quota che permise di generare energia idraulica e meccanica servendo prima i mulini poi le macchine ad azionamento idraulico e infine le turbine delle sei centraline elettriche costruite lungo il suo percorso.

This artefact consists of a dam placed transversely to the river bed and a monumental water intake with the aim of conveying part of the waters of Isonzo river to distribute them to the Monfalcone countryside. The work was built in 1905. The canal is about 12 km long and is characterized by a vertical drop of 20 meters, a jump in altitude that allowed the generation of hydraulic and mechanical energy, first serving the mills and then the hydraulically operated machines and finally the turbines of the six power stations built along its path.
