Halgurd Sakran National Park is the first National Park in the mountains of Iraq. The NP is close to the Iranian border. The highest mountains are covered with snow all year round.
The cache is located next to the track to the base of Mount Halgurd, which is the largest mountain in Kurdistan (3609 m). It is accessible by 4WD. Smaller cars can drive at least to the designated parking place or even further.
I placed the container next to the track because there are still landmines in the areas near the Iranian border.
There are lots of tracks with spectacular views and waterfalls where it is safe to hike. Ask local people if you want to leave the tracks.
