At the given coordinates is the Tickera War Memorial. We were in the area just before ANZAC Day 2023 when we came across this memorial, so it seemed appropriate to place a cache here.
An excerpt from The Kadina and Wallaroo Times:
"Despite the boisterous weather there was a good attendance at the site of the Tickera Soldiers' Memorial on Wednesday afternoon, September 21, when the ceremony of unveiling took place. The Memorial stands on a triple slate pediment, and consists of an obelisk of red granite, surmounted by a figure of an Anzac soldier.
Mr John Willis, chairman of the Tickera Memorial Committee, heartily welcomed the gathering. He regretted it was not a more favorable day, but was pleased so many had been able to come. They were assembled to perform the last public act in connection with the Great War to do honor to the men who had enlisted, and to those who had made the supreme sacrifice. Of the 28 men who had enlisted, seven had given their lives; and if blood were the price of liberty, then they had paid in full. He would ask Mr J. F. Herbert (town clerk, Wallaroo) to unveil the memorial."
