Welcome to Cesar Chavez Park! This is another in the Newbie series! It's designed to help new cachers learn about the game, and for more experienced cachers to have an easy find to fill in grids or just because.
About the park: Cesar Chavez is Berkeley's SF Bay-side park and boasts 90 rolling acres, 1.5 miles of wheelchair/scooter accessible paved trails and many more of dirt/rough trail. You'll find wildlife, benches on which to relax, and picnic areas. Most days there's enough wind for kite flying. Hiking and biking are both allowed. Park Hours: 6:00 am- 10:00 pm, unless otherwise posted.
You're looking for a small camo'd tupperware--about the size you could put a sandwich in, so consider bringing swag to trade. New cachers please see trading rules below. You can approach this cache from the side/below or from above; there are trails on two side of the tree at GZ. Bring a pen to use to sign the log in case the pencil I put in walks off.
Tips: For this one, I'd recommend long pants so you avoid any of the things that sometimes come with Bay Area park caching, such as stickers or ticks. There is no poison oak nearby at the time I placed this cache, but the grass/random vegetation is pretty high!
For new cachers, here's the trading rule: if you take something, you need to leave something at least as good for the next finder. No food, nothing dangerous (lighters, items made of glass etc.). If you find a trackable/travel bug, only take it if you know what to do with it and will put it in another cache within a two weeks. Otherwise please leave it there, and take a photo of it (including the code) so you can log that you "discovered" it on the app later at home. Watch out for muggles (non-geocachers) and put the cache back as you found it so that it isn't discovered accidentally (or destroyed).
