Geocache Description:

WELCOME TO WAYNE COUNTY

This quiet, rural community is predominantly made up of small and medium farms and has been one of the breadbaskets of America for now 200 years.

Battles have been fought here, railroads have crossed it’s rolling landscape, and heroes are buried in it’s consecrated ground.

Rose is a small Hamlet with its share of local flavor and history. The Rose Cemetery is no exception. Located in what is considered North Rose, it is a short distance from the homestead of the the original settler Caleb Melvin. His first structure was a log cabin, later replaced with a frame house.

This sizable cemetery is the resting place of a number of veterans including Revolutionary, 1812 and Civil War. There are also some interesting zinc monuments.

Most notable is the monument of Samuel Lyman, a well respected Abolitionist, and supporter of the Temperance movement. His barn was a Coldwater raising (NO ALCOHOL) and was part of the Underground Railroad.

THIS CACHE IS NOT NEAR ANY STONES.

                              PLEASE NO NIGHT CACHING
