Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Wayne County Bicentennial Geocaching Trail. Wolcott was first settled around 1806 by Jonathan Melvin, who purchased 500 acres of land and built both a gristmill and a saw mill, utilizing Wolcott Falls for energy. Osgood Church, Obadiah Adams, and many others from Massachusetts and Connecticut settled with their families on nearby lots between 1807 and 1810. The town was separated from the Seneca County Town of Junius on March 6, 1810. Wolcott remained a part of Seneca County until April 11, 1823 when Wayne County was established, and was named in honor of Oliver Wolcott, who was a governor of Connecticut.

This cache will take you to Northup Park, in the center of the village. The park was the gift of Gardner H Northup who came to Wolcott in 1871. His widow donated the memorial bandstand in 1928. Also in the park is a memorial to  soldiers of World Wars 1-2, and separate statues for earlier wars. There are benches and a little free library as well. The cache is a plastic container with pens inside and other swag, but bring your own container just in case.

You are looking for a plastic container, and it should be fairly easy to find, but please don't take apart anything or trample the flowers in your search.

Please leave the punch in the cache. It is not swag. Use the punch to mark your "passport"  and once you collect enough stamps, you may turn it in for a prize.
