Cubical or cubicle? Where do I work? The answer is in a cubicle. A cubicle is one of those short-walled rooms that office people live for 8 hours or more each week day. I have been in my cubicle for over 30 years. I have had my chances to escape like a mouse does in a maze, but I have chosen to stay. The inventor of the cubicle says that he wants workers to talk to each other and promote discussions. Cubicles lead to prairie dogging where people in office cubicles pop up to see what’s going on in the rest of the office. Cubicles give you your own space but also allow you to communicate. So who invented the cubicle? A Michigander, Robert Propst. Robert is a cool name. Robert's cubicles where marketed by two major West Michigan furniture companies--Herman Miller and Steelcase. I worked a bit for Steelcase with my dad. His dad worked for Herman Miller. Now I need to get back to my cube. Look at this photo. Please help me organize (clean) my desk.
