The Origin of the Wet Burrito: Grand Rapids’ Beltline Bar The Beltline Bar in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is best known for its famous wet burritos, which are a nod to its long history of making Mexican food. Tony and Louise D’Angelo owned the Beltline Bar in 1966, and Tony’s son Jerry developed recipes for a variety of Mexican specialties, including the wet burrito. The wet burrito has become one of the most popular items among locals and visitors alike at Beltline Bar. Although there is some debate about whether the Beltline Bar invented the wet burrito, there is widespread agreement that they are the originals.
