Geocache Description:

Many years ago before the new Visitor Centre was built it used to be possible to drive close to the Stones and admire them through the fence. The easiest way to see the them for free now is to park at Larkhill and make the pleasant walk 1km or so down the track passing the Cursus (long and narrow earthwork enclosures that were built between 3500 and 3000 BC) and a bunch of New Agers who live there. At the waypoint turn left onto the footpath just before the entrance for those who have paid and follow the path round for 200m or so. You won’t get the full experience of being able to walk around the Stones, get very close or enjoy everything else that the Visitor Centre has to offer but the view is pretty good, particularly at sunset on a sunny day.

If you are brave/lazy you can drive down the track but there are a lot of potholes and it is not recommended, particularly on weekends or holiday season when there are frequently children running around.

And finally, don’t forget to grab our cache!
