Look for a pile of rocks on the right side of an horizontal entrance into the Earth.
*Note: this cache was moved from the tailings pile (mine enterance) down into the meadow across the road from the mine tailings pile on the side of the hill. The Geo coordinates have been updated and are accurate.
*NOTE: please enter this canyon from the west side of the Wah Wah mountain range. You can exit the mountain range from the Cache to the east but beware you must have a short wheelbase 4X4. The switchbacks are very very tight.
My theme for this stash is going to be "Utah History"
Ok, I admit, I was so unprepared for this trip so for now the contents contain what ever we scrounged up betweens us.
This area is full of human history from as far back as 100 years or more and some buildings are still standing. (Update: all of the buildings are now gone). We take too much for granted what these people did to get our economy going and the conditions they lived and worked.
So take a minute when you find this stash and look around for petrified wood but be very careful of bottomless shafts which dot this hillside. Be very aware of every step and watch small children in this area.
The rock history dates back as far as the Jurassic period (201 to 145 million years ago) and is the only known ancient rock left in the Great Basin. Very large Ponderosa Pine trees and huge tree trunks not normally found in Utah are everywhere.
Good Luck!!!
