Geocache Description:

As I study for the Colorado Master Gardener certificate, I am going to set up some caches with some tips for your own landscape, things that I was especially excited to learn about.  Your trees, shrubs and lawn need winter watering in Colorado to avoid drought damage to the root system.  Water continues to be lost through evapotranspiration, just at a slower pace than during the warmer months, and especially by evergreens.  1" of water monthly mid-day on a warm (over 40 degrees) day to let it soak in well, and not freeze in overnight temps.  Newly planted items are especially susceptible because their root systems are still trying to establish.  Check online for more details from your local extension office, on this and many other topics!

It’s time to plant a tree, a tree.
What shall it be? What shall it be?

Let’s plant a pine—we can’t go wrong:
A pine is green the whole year long.

Be somewhat wary of muggles, but you should be fairly inconspicuous here.  I have stocked with some tiny swag, but this won't be big enough for trackables.  Have fun, geo-friends!
