Geocache Description:

A multi cache with 4 stops in town before heading to the final location.

The starting location is where Abe Lincoln christened the town of Lincoln. You will find it interesting to see what the town was christened with. Notice the date of the event.

This is where the plot to steal Lincolns body for ransom was conceived. You can walk to this location about 1 ½ blocks. Note the year of the plot.

You will need to drive to this location. Look for a date. Take the time to visit the museum if you are interested in a great collection of authentic Abraham Lincoln items. It is well worth the small amount of time it will take. Pictures may be taken inside. Open hours are M-F 9 to 4 and Sat & Sun 1pm-4pm. The new museum is to the north on the same street at N40 09.514 W 089 21.522 and is well worth the time to visit.

Postville courthouse: Logan County’s first courthouse. Abraham Lincoln as a member of the traveling bar of the eighth judicial circuit attended court here. Note the years that this was the county seat for Logan County. Take a short tour of the courthouse and you will see what an authentic frontier courthouse was like. Winter hours Tues-Sat noon-4pm. Summer hours noon-5pm

Park near the trailhead N40 06 .427 W089 23.200 and follow the trail. Long pants recommended.
Please note that the area of this final cache is only open from dawn until dusk. A trail takes you most of the way. I have included some Lincoln-Logan County tourism bureau brochures.
