Geocache Description:

As my K9K8 nickname indicates: I love dogs! Here’s another of my 2023 hide submittals. I grew up with 14 different dogs and have had 5 dogs of my own. My first vocation was as an engineer; once a geek, always a geek. As a second career I switched to dog grooming. Both science and animals have enriched my life. All my cache hides will have something to do with dogs.

This location is perfect for geokids and geopups. A playground, picnic benches and tables are located nearby. Good place for a geocaching lunch break.

This hide gets its name because most dogs can’t ignore squirrels. In my house they demand attention. My dogs are suddenly in action when ever there is a squirrel on the family room porch or the bird feeders. My dogs unquestionably understand that squirrels are not welcome guests around the house and must be discouraged. One of our family stories is about “Clancey” the Irish Setter I grew up with. He was an excellent hunter and would kill any animal he could catch usually bringing it home to show us his prize. One day he caught a squirrel and decided to bury it in the front yard. We found him laying next to his buried prize and knew what had occurred because he had not buried the squirrel’s tail.

Always keep your guard up when geocaching or socializing with animals of any kind.
