Il Torrione Buovo o del Portello Vecchio è il bastione più alto e forse più imponente di Padova, costruito negli anni 10 e 20 del XVI sec. dopo la guerra contro la Lega di Cambrai (1508-1511). Era stato ideato per essere il bastione laterale di una gigantesca fortezza militare, il Castelnuovo, che tuttavia non venne mai completata; del progetto originale vennero costruiti a nord il Torrione Castelnuovo e il Torrione Venier o del Portello Nuovo, collegati tra loro attraverso delle mura con gallerie interne. Affianco al bastione si trova uno splendido ponte rinascimentale a tre arcate.
Dalla cache potete avere una bella veduta del Torrione. Continuando lungo l’argine si possono raggiungere altri percorsi ciclopedonali lungo il Piovego e il Bacchiglione.
La cache è di dimensioni micro e contiene solo il logbook. Buona caccia!

The Torrione Buovo or del Portello Vecchio is the highest and perhaps most imposing bastion in Padua, built in the 10s and 20s of the 16th century after the war against the League of Cambrai (1508-1511). It had been designed to be the lateral bastion of a gigantic military fortress, the Castelnuovo, which however was never completed; of the original project, the Torrione Castelnuovo and the Torrione Venier or del Portello Nuovo were built to the north, connected to each other through walls with internal galleries. Next to the bastion there is a splendid Renaissance bridge with three arches.
From the cache you can have a nice view of the Torrione. Continuing along the embankment you can reach other cycle/pedestrian paths along the Piovego and the Bacchiglione.
The cache is micro in size and contains only the logbook. Good hunting!
