This cache is part of a series of caches, called HistoryCache. These will explore different historical areas in Trafford, mostly in the Sale area. These will also all come with a WhatThreeWords code to try and make finding it easier!
This cache is located by two houses in a residential area of Sale. These two houses have both been converted from old corner shops!
The first we are going to talk about is the Roebuck Lane shop (the house in front of you). This shop used to be a newsagents. There was a postbox outside, which would've saved residents a walk to the nearest one by Barkers Lane bus stop. The image below is of the sweet shop, with the postbox in view
The other shop was also a newsagents! This newsagents closed very recently. It is still visible on Google Maps, if you select the 2009 option. Below is the picture from Google Maps of the shop.
Both of these shops served a strong purpose during their time, and we are very thankful for them!
