In this, the second of our series of HITCHCOCK-themed caches, LarsThorwald takes you on a journey of horror, history, and scary winding roads barely big enough for a single car! One way or another, by the time you're done you'll be able to tell everyone that YOU'VE GONE PSYCHO!
PSYCHO, released in 1960, is assuredly one of Alfred Hitchcock's absolute masterpieces. Perhaps more than any of his other films, PSYCHO (based on the novel by Robert Bloch) contains images which remain with the viewer forever. Who will ever forget the shower scene, with its 78 camera set-ups and 50 shots ending with Marion Crane's blood spiraling down the drain (it was actually chocolate syrup, by the way)? Or Norman's apple-doll mom? Or Janet Leigh in her underwear? But perhaps no visual aspect of the film has proven as powerful, or enduring, as Norman Bates' exceedingly creepy house up on the hill, first shown at night, its windows glowing like the eyes of a huge skull...
So where in Los Angeles could we possibly take you that would have anything to do with this famous film? Well, we don't want to give away too much, so just find your way to the listed coordinates, pick a place to park where you're not blocking the UPS truck, and then... look around.
