223 Mondovi Drive, Oswego
When I learned about the Maker Magic events, three things popped into my mind. "People will ask/expect me to do one", "I don't want people to see how bad I am at making caches", and "Kyle and I will talk about this and end up co-hosting a Maker Magic event". I was right on all three counts!
The event will have two parts. The first will be a typical meet and greet at lunchtime. We'll provide plenty of food, but as usual, feel free to bring something to share. I'll have at least one grill going, so there will be some tasty treats, and I'll be more than happy to cook anything you bring, or you can cook for yourself! You certainly don't have to bring anything, but we do insist on full bellies shortly after your arrival. This part of the event will start at noon, and I imagine we'll just transition into the next part as we're ready.
The Maker part of the event will focus on how Kyle and I make creative caches, with an emphasis on 3D printing. Kyle and I will have 3 printers going, so if you haven't seen a 3D printer at work, this might interest you. We'll also have various small trinkets and geocaches printed for those who are interested in taking some home. We can go over the very basic parts of 3D printing so you may leave with a better idea of what it's all about, and you may find out if you're up to the challenges of the hobby. We can also talk about how we get ideas for unique hides and anything else that interests everyone. I'll have the laptop hooked up to the tv so we can show some of the software tools we use. Basically, we'll just see what interests people and go with that. The official end time of the event is 2:00, but don't feel the need to leave at that time. We're happy to keep things going as long as we're all having fun!
We'll also have a raffle and a brand new Little Free Library with books, puzzles, and games to take, donate and trade.
Kyle and I have decided to make lists of some of our 3D caches and creative caches around here. Many of these are normally Premium Member Only caches, but we'll make them available for everyone well before the event. You might want to come early to find some of these, especially if you're not from the area. We hope to see lots of people! The more the merrier as they say. Let's hope for good weather so we can do most of this outside!
