This cache is part of the Saum Creek Avian series and is placed just off the Saum Creek Greenway path, a pleasant forested trail along the creek behind a residential area. Bring your own writing implement.
The red-breasted nuthatch is a tiny, active bird that skitters up and down tree trunks, defying gravity. Nuthatches search furrows in the tree bark, looking for hidden insects on which to feed. They also love to visit backyard feeders that offer suet and seeds. Their bellies are reddish-brown, their wings are grey, and their distinctive black-and-white face pattern makes them appear masked.

Remember to note the color of the cache container -- you'll need that information to find the bonus cache in this series, GCA89GT "Avian Abode."
