Bij Twente denk je misschien aan kleinschalig boerenlandschap met glooiende essen en kabbelende beekjes. Wist je dat je in deze regio ook uitgestrekte hoogveengebieden vindt.
Twente is daarnaast ook bekend om zijn landgoederen.
Deze zijn veelal aangelegd door textielfabrikanten tijdens de hoogtijdagen van de textielindustrie.
Grote variatie dus in landschapstypen, plant- en diersoorten en cultuurhistorie.
Je zult wel denken: Twente, dat is toch die regio vol natuurgebieden, landgoederen en boerderijen. En je hebt nog gelijk ook.

When you think of Twente, you might think of a small-scale farm landscape with rolling landscape and babbling brooks. Did you know that you will also find extensive raised moor areas in this region. Twente is also known for its country estates. These were often built by textile manufacturers during the heyday of the textile industry. So there is great variation in landscape types, plant and animal species and cultural history.

Twente'23 Doolhof
De doolhof met meervoudige wegen is een stelsel van paden, zodanig aangelegd dat men daarin moeilijk de weg kan vinden. In de doolhof moeten bepaalde plekken gevonden worden, hier is vaak een attractie opgesteldlachspiegels of een uitkijktoren) of kan men in alle rust een afbeelding of waterpartij bekijken.
In sommige doolhoven is het de bedoeling zo snel mogelijk het doel te vinden, waarbij men de kortst mogelijke route moet zien te vinden. Andere doolhoven zijn bedoeld om de juiste route te vinden langs verschillende aanwijzingen of afbeeldingen waardoor een verhaal ontstaat: in feite moet een puzzel worden opgelost. Soms moet in dit soort doolhoven een pad meerdere keren vanuit verschillende richtingen worden gelopen om de route te volbrengen.

The maze
The maze with multiple roads is a system of paths, laid out in such a way that it is difficult to find your way. Certain places must be found in the maze, an attraction is often set up here (distortion mirrors or a watchtower) or you can view a picture or water feature in peace.
In some mazes, the aim is to find the goal as quickly as possible, while trying to find the shortest possible route. Other mazes are meant to find the right route through different clues or pictures that create a story: in fact, a puzzle has to be solved. Sometimes in these types of mazes, a path must be walked several times from different directions to complete the route.
