Leigh Cottage is one of the many buildings at the park that once housed children. It's a nice place to walk and easily accessible for anyone.
A little history: Leigh Cottage was built in 1949 and was used as a residence for boys. It burned down in 2006 and was fully rebuilt in 2008 Dorsey Nobles stayed there when he came to the Children’s Home in 1971 at age 7. He lived on the property until 1982, and returned in 1990 as a caretaker at the Children’s Home. As of 2022, he is the Legacy Park Property Manager for the City of Decatur. The superintendent at that time was Dr. Beverly Cochran, who served for many years starting in 1969 and was beloved by all.
This is the third cache in a series hidden by Girl Scout Troop 15225. Permission to hide the cache was given by the Legacy Park Program Director.
