Geocache Description:

Hidden with the help of The Knoydart Foundation; my thanks to them.

Knoydart is one of Britain's great last wildernesses, and yet it has far too few caches to bring the more intrepid 'cacher to discover it. Perhaps the UK Mainland's most remote pub - The Old Forge - has been enough to inspire either a long walk over the mountains or a boat ride from Mallaig? Well, now there's this cache - a sort of replacement for the Letterbox/Hybrid I had here (2015-2022) - to lure you across.

However, it's not at the given co-ords. It's at N57° 0(7th).(6th)(5th-9th)(1st-2nd)' W005° 4(2nd).(4th-2nd)(8th)(1st)'.

The digits you need can be found in something infinite, irrational, constant and transcendental. Also, it's not algebraic— that is, not the root of a non-zero polynomial of finite degree with rational coefficients. Your phone may be able to help. Otherwise you'll need the internet, in which case you might find WiFi or signal in parts of the village but solving this cache in advance of reaching Knoydart would be advisable.

Failed to do that? I offer two alternatives below.

The given co-ords are for a marker cairn you can visit to gather info which will lead you to the final. It's less than a mile away, but a bit of a climb...

At the monument there are two dates; 19AB and 19CD. How many lines of English text? EF. And lastly, how many men of Knoydart featured? G.

One method of finding the cache:

It's approximately (D-G) (B-A-E) ((D/C)+E) (F) metres away at (G-C) (A+E) (B-C-E) degrees from the given spot. There's a clear clue to get you to GZ, but you may not have phone signal so save the cache and some maps - or screen shot them - before you come. Too vague? Try the below for some more accurate co-ords.

The cache is hidden at N57 0(B/C).(D+E)F(B/A) W005 4(E+F).F(G-E)(G-A). There's a good path to GZ. Just be thankful I didn't send you off deep into the woods, where I got lost while looking for a good spot to place this cache. However, they are the only place I've seen a Pine Martin, in a tree, back on my first visit to Knoydart in 2011.

Simple! Yes, this could've been a Multi but I wanted to include a checker and this way is easiest. Good luck. Once at GZ you'll have a 'frontier feeling' - this is the difference between deer (beyond) and no deer. Makes you think... Also, I'm told sea eagles and white-tailed eagles (9ft wingspan!) have been seen fighting over food here. Don't be a lamb, I say.

Have fun and thanks again to The Knoydart Foundation for their permission and assistance in placing this cache, and congratulations to AbrachHutchison on being FTF! :)
