The new village bagan to emerge and the name Worley was adopted in 1910.

Worley was governed by a board of trustees until 1956 when the village became a city and the chairman was replaced by an elected mayor. The first mayor to be elected was Ernest Lagow.

Worley was a vital part of the Cold War. Spokane's Fairchild Air Force Base was home to the 567th Strategic Missile Squadron and its Atlas-E intercontinental ballistic missiles.
