This cache was placed in memory of Harriet Spanel, a community activist and public servant, first as a representative in the state legislature and then as a state senator. The original York Neighborhood park was called Franklin Park. The City of Bellingham renamed the park in 2016 in honor of her many years of service and support for Bellingham, Whatcom County, and Washington State.
This is a small park and great for kids. It has an internal path loop, ADA accessible playground equipment, skate feature, picnic shelter, park benches, and picnic tables. 18 varieties of trees may be found in this park.
