About SideTracked Caches
SideTracked Caches are a series probably familiar to anyone that has been caching in the United Kingdom. SideTracked Caches are intended to provide quick Cache-and-dashes at Train Stations... a distraction for the weary traveller. And of course, anyone else can go and find them too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website.
About SideTracked Events
Every year in the UK, SideTracked Events have been held on 10th August (SideTracked Day) to celebrate the series... and this year is the 16th Anniversary.
About This Event
With SideTracked Caches proliferating across the suburbs of Melbourne, we are going join in with the UK again and celebrate SideTracked Day. Unlike the UK where it is summer, we are still in the depths of winter and need somewhere warm and dry to hold an event.
With railway stations quite reasonably ruled out as policy, an alternative railway themed location is required... and what better than a Railway Hotel. After a very successful event last year, we are returning to the:
Railway Hotel
14 Main Street
Bunyip
Although it is some way out of Melbourne, for the committed rail enthusiast, the hotel is a short walk from Bunyip Station. For the rest of us, it should be an easy drive down the Princes Highway to Bunyip where there should be plenty of on-street parking available. The event is timed to start at 6:30pm so you are to buy dinner at the hotel... entirely optional of course! Although we are likely to hang around for longer, the event will officially finish at 8:00pm which is when the First to Find winner will be drawn... and also about when the hotel stops taking orders for dinner.
This is really important... so I can manage the booking with the hotel, please log a Will Attend before 3rd August. Please include the number of people attending and if you are planning to buy dinner. As those that made it along last year will remember, it got a bit chaotic as more people showed up than expected. If we have the numbers, this year we will be in the Function Room so it should be a lot more comfortable.
