Welcome back to the island! It seemed that everyone had a good time these last couple years, so I thought we'd do it again. We'll meet at the posted coordinates at 10 a.m. You can attend the event while on the island or from the comfort of your own watercraft. We'll chat for awhile and take a group photo. I'll also have a trackable log book to sign.
Note: Clinton Lake is a state park and there is typically, but not always, an access fee which can be paid at the entry kiosk (waypoints are included for both the State Park kiosk and the Bloomington kiosk). The parking areas that involve the shortest water route to the island are just to the west of the island north of the "beach" area. These are included as waypoints for Boat Ramps 5, 6, and 7. However, if you are coming from Johnson County or Kansas City, it takes much longer to drive there than it might seem as you have to drive to the opposite side of the lake through the tiny town of Clinton. The Marina (located north of the Island) would offer much closer parking, but probably an extra 30-45 minutes of paddling on the water. If your watercraft is powered, the Marina (or adjacent boat ramps) are a good place to put in. There are other access points and boat ramps for Clinton Lake including some that are free, but I do not recommend using those for the purpose of attending this event unless you really know what you are doing and arrive very early.
