Geocache Description:

Old Bratton Road 'N' Back

This cache is part of a series of caches placed by myself, Nathbrown54 and Jamie2791. The walk will take you along Old Bratton Road, alongside the village of Bratton, past the small village of Dunge, and back to where you started in Westbury. You will see great views of the White Horse hills throughout, and the Heywood House towards the end of the walk.

If you do not have a pen or are unable to sign the log, that is not a problem as long as you attach a picture of the cache to your log or message me a picture, if you do not and your name isn’t on the log then your log entry may be removed voiding the find.

Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey or location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or "copy and paste" logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.

Travelbug Etiquette: Cachers pay good money for TravelBugs and Geocoins. Please if you take a TB or GC from a cache will you ensure it is correctly logged in and out, also If you take one that still shows somewhere else please be patient before “grabbing” the item, it does not get its mileage by being grabbed and the last person to place may not have had time to log a previous find or the one you took it from. This is particularly important on busy and new caches. If you have an issue with a bug please e-mail the owner through their profile and advise them of the issue. They will be pleased to hear from you.

The walk is roughly 12.5km (8miles) and will take you anywhere between 2-3hrs, depending on your walking speed. Like many rural walks, the footpaths can become waterlogged and muddy so please where appropriate footwear, we also highly recommend bringing gardening gloves due to some areas being overgrown in summer, maybe some secateures too maybe!  There are a number of existing caches along this route, including: A Stileish Cache, Welcome 2 Westbury and WHITE HORSE VIEW. Aswell as caches in Bratton and Dunge. There is a Little Bridges mystery on the way, so make sure you get it solved before visiting! This cache trail also runs for the most part along the now archived, Westbury Wandering series. For those of you with a good memory, there maybe some features along the walk you may remember.

Accessibility

This cache series is not fully wheelchair/ pushchair accessable, and the caches that are will require assistance to retrive the container; each cache will state in the description a thourogh accessibility advisory. Between caches 12 and 13 is a train track crossing, there is not a way around it unless you go cache 18 and bactrack to cache 13 unfortunatly. The footpaths through fields go directly through them, however, due to the farmers turning a bling eye to them, they can have crops on them with no path left, so we recommend walking around the outside of them. Remember to use the Geocaching trails feature if needed. There are also many stiles throughout, some in disrepair (which we have reported to the council) so please be aware.

This cache trail has been a long time in the making, we have been working on the caches on and off for the last 7 months. Myself and Jamie have worked on the locations so each cache is not only hidden well for you to find, but hidden in a way that they will last for years to come. Any questions about the trail, whether your planning on attempting or get stuck on a cache ect don’t hesitate to message me through geocache. I will reply and help you as quickly as possible. Enjoy :-)
