Welcome to the Lowd Environmental Reserve! This newer acquisition (2020) of the Mousam Way Land Trust is near and dear to my heart. Many years ago in my teaching career, I was transferred to Springvale's Lincoln School to take the place of retiring teacher, Dot Lowd, who owned this land and lived in the house on the property. Fast forward many more years and the house was sold after Dot's passing, but not the land with the trail going up the hill to the McDougal/Hansen Trails (where I have lots of caches). My late geo-horse and I crossed Oak St and explored this trail which became one of our favorites. Eventually a 'For Sale' sign made me fear the loss of the trail...but to my utter delight, the land was ultimately donated to the Mousam Way Land Trust and a loop trail incorporating the original trail is being developed.
This park-and-grab cache marks the ample parking area and trailhead for the Lowd Environmental Reserve. This cammo bison tube is a typical steptime trailhead hide. Enjoy!
