The Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church was built in 1926 and was the community hub for the local Ukrainian population. Although its use has dropped significantly over the years as the rural population declines, holiday services are still held occasionally, as well as events in the hall. The kitty corner cemetery was founded at the same time as the church and is the resting place of multiple generations of local farmers.
It may be a bit of trek off the highway, but there are fewer and fewer rural churches like this still in operation, and I wanted to share with other cachers the one I attended with my Baba and Gido (Ukrainian Grandmother and Grandfather) as a child. This cache does not require entering the cemetery, and may become inaccessible in winter with deep snow.
