When I started geocaching on Mother's Day 2008, I had an old, second-hand Garmin and a compass. The compass ensured I was going the right general direction faster than the Garmin did, thereby keeping my frustration level down and interest in the game up as I learned the ins-and-outs of nativation. My kids thought the spinning, magnetic needle in that compass was facinating and I taught each of them the basics of using a compass.
15 years later, I still carry my trusty compass into the field. My kids passed their basic compass skills onto others in various Scout and youth group activities. The spinning, magnetic needle rarely failed to impress, at least for a little while.
This two-stage geocache is a respectful nod to the magnetic forces that make my trusty compass work.
The First Stage is outside on public property. Watch out for muggles, and please be respectful of the landscaping.
The Final Stage is inside the library, and was hidden with management approval. Hours of operation are M-W 12noon-8pm, and Th-Sa 9am-5pm. Please plan your hunt accordingly.
